Larry Brown Presents A Budget

posted Feb 8, 2011, 4:06 AM by James Valley
Trying to reach a compromise between Mayor Arnell Willis's second budget and the budget presented by Alderman Marvin Jarrett, Alderman Larry Brown presented a budget on Thursday, February 3, 2011 for the council to consider at the 6:00 p.m. meeting.

Brown delivered the budget to the council via email at 11:30 a.m. Brown also delivered printed copies of the budget to the police department which circulated the budget throughout the day.

Brown's budget is viewable at the follow link:

Mayor Arnell Willis, calling the budget submitted by Brown "illegal" because the mayor has to "present the budget;" promised to veto the budget and on Friday, February 4th, he did provide notice of a veto of the budget passed on Thursday night. The city has been operating since that time without a budget in place under a state of emergency declared by the mayor.
